2021 ASA Employee Safety Committee
Committee Description
The safety committee assists with the development and promotion of best practices for employee safety for all sectors of the staffing industry (i.e. industrial, health care, professional, technical, etc.).
In addition, the committee provides feedback on U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration documentation as it relates to the Temporary Worker Initiative.
This committee strives to put safety at the forefront of the staffing industry to promote staffing firms as the employers of choice for job candidates and with clients.
Our Ideal Volunteer Candidate
Our ideal volunteer:
- Has a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience specifically on safety topics in staffing and should currently have functional responsibilities at their company with safety.
- Currently works for a staffing firm
- Or as an industry supplier with specific expertise in workers’ compensation and insurance (minimum spots available for industry suppliers)
It is essential for this committee to represent all sectors of the industry and staffing firms of various sizes. This will be taken into consideration when reviewing applications.
Goals and Priorities
- Serves as industry liaisons with the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration and provides feedback on documents produced through the ASA-OSHA Temporary Worker Initiative.
- Develop and review safety materials to promote safety best practices in the industry
- Provide insight on safety trends and legislative action and how it impacts the staffing industry
- Continued work on Return to Work safety protocols in light of Covid-19
Time Commitment
The time commitment for employee safety committee members is between 10 and 20 hours annually, with bi-monthly committee calls and an in-person meeting at Staffing World (optional).
