Description:

The safety committee assists with the development and promotion of best practices as they relate to employee safety for various sectors of the staffing industry (i.e. industrial, health care, professional, technical, etc.). These best practices should enhance the safety and well-being of staffing firms’ temporary and contract workers as well as internal employees. In addition, the committee may have the opportunity to provide feedback on U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Admnistrationdocumentation as it relates to the Temporary Worker Initiative. The contributions of the committee should aid in the association’s overall goals of promoting the staffing industry to clients, as well as promoting staffing firms as employers of choice for job candidates. 

Committee Participant Responsibilities:

  • Should be familiar with safety and risk management practices with their firm
  • Provide information to ASA staff and the committee on their own firms’ safety and risk management best practices or other areas of operation that may be important to tasks the committee is working on
  • Identify ways to educate the general membership on employee safety
  • Be a resource for members who wish to speak with other members about employee safety best practices
  • Participate in conference calls as needed
  • Work with members of the committee to produce and edit written best practices or other materials, as determined by the committee
  • To the extent possible given committee members’ time and other constraints, take part in webinars or other presentations to ASA members regarding employee safety and the contributions of the committee
