Reliatus Healthcare. Executive Biography,  Steven A. Thornley

Steve Thornley, CSC, is the President and CEO of Reliatus Healthcare. Steve is a 30-year veteran of the staffing and recruiting industry. For the past 15 years, Steve has worked in the healthcare staffing vertical.

Steve began in the staffing industry at the tender age of 18. A neighbor of Steve’s, Dick Reinhold, was the founder and CEO of SOS Staffing Services in Salt Lake City and gave Steve an opportunity to work as a Payroll Clerk in the Industrial division of SOS. After working at SOS for several months, Steve fulfilled a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Maine and Massachusetts respectively.

Upon his return to Utah, Steve started again with SOS, working as a Dispatcher and Administrator at Skill Staff, the construction and manufacturing division of SOS Staffing Services.

In 1994, Steve moved to Phoenix, Arizona and took a job as a Staffing Partner with Valley Staffing Services. He then worked for Excel Agent Services in Human Resource Recruiting. After desiring to get back into the temporary help business, Steve joined Superior Staffing Services doing recruiting for manufacturing technology.

In 1995, SOS Staffing Services became public on the NASDAQ stock exchange and began acquiring staffing companies throughout the country. They acquired several companies in Arizona. Steve asked to rejoin the company and was hired as the Branch Manager for the Tucson, Arizona office for PAMS Employment Services, an SOS Division. PAMS stood for Patient Account Management Services with a focus on medical staffing. Steve progressed in this role and became the District Manager covering all of southern Arizona.

In 2003, Steve accepted a position to work more in-depth in healthcare with PrimeStaff (now known as Acclivity Healthcare) in Scottsdale, Arizona. Steve worked for Acclivity for 6-years becoming the Recruiting Manager and achieving multiple President’s Club awards for outstanding revenue generated.

In late 2009, Steve felt he could have some success in forming his own company. The debate over healthcare reform was raging and the economy had just suffered a major blow. But this didn’t stop Steve and in December, 2009, he formed CareNational Healthcare Services, LLC with a specialization on Nurses for healthcare medical management. He worked with some of the top Health Insurance and Hospital organizations in the country. In October, 2018, Steve sold the company to his business partner and set out for his next adventure.

In October 2018, Steve formed Recruiter Skill Fitness a recruiter training organization. Steve trains Recruiters in a variety of staffing verticals as well as Corporate HR Recruiters.

On January 16, 2020, Steve discovered an undeserved niche and has set out to form what he calls a VRMS (Vendor Relationship Management Solution) As a Master Service provider, Reliatus Healthcare will revolutionize the way healthcare organizations procure staffing services. Coupling relationship based services with technology applications, Reliatus aims to save healthcare organizations money, provide efficiency and building lasting hiring manager and vendor relationships that seem to miss the mark with current Vendor Management Solution providers.

Steve is an expert on consulting with healthcare organizations on their overall talent acquisition strategy. He recently saved an Arizona based and government funded health plan over $500,000 in annual overspend on staffing services. Steve believes that by aggregating services, companies can focus on their core mission of providing world-class healthcare.

Steve has formed a network of service providers in healthcare, information technology and pharmacy staffing, skills testing, background/employee screening services, candidate preparation services as well as technology partners to provide a single source HR and recruitment strategy for hospitals, health insurance companies, large physician groups, home health and hospice care and a variety of other medical related service providers.

Steve is a Certified Staffing Consultant, Member and Presenter of the American Staffing Association. He is also an emeritus board member of the Case Management Society of America, Central Arizona Chapter.  Steve is also a trained Emergency Medical Technician.  Steve and his wife and two children reside and play in Mesa, Arizona.
