    Hi ASA Family,

    Our family supports a special needs career training and academic/school program in Maryland.  This topic is often discussed among it's career counselors.

    As professional Recruiters, at what point in the resume development/ interviewing process is it appropriate to explain/ share with the possible client, that the candidate/applicant has special needs?

    We do business with several different organizations that have varying degrees of special needs.  We address this with all of our clients at the initial walk through, by asking if they are able to accommodate the following; special needs (discussing the organization that they would be from), halfway house applicants (non violent offenders, mostly drug abuse/drug offenses), refugees (that may or may not speak English well)  MOST of our clients if they are not already supporting some of the above are very willing to utilize any available worker.

    I have a specific client that for their line positions prefer special needs.  They know that it takes a little more time to train some of them, but once they are trained, they have no problems with them.
