Greetings, ASA Team! - Our small agency is starting the paperless application and on-boarding process - Welcome to 2021!  I am curious - which technology has our fellow agencies adopted when accepting in-house applications and post job offer paperwork: tablets or desktops? I think Gen Xers would be able to use a desktop with a dedicated access to our on-line application better and Millennials may use the tablet better - but what is your input before we take this step?   Thank you all for your help! Leighanna

    Hi Leighanna,

    Great question and issue.

There are quite a few good software companies that our work comp solution clients use.  A relative new one that impressed us during their demo is Ascen. You may wish to check them out. They have a cool back office functions/interface that we liked.

    Stay well.

Your analysis is dead on.  I've done extensive research on communication preferences and employee benefits each generation prefers.  Gen-Xers will generally be more comfortable with a laptop/PC/kiosk while Millennials are more comfortable with tablets.  The newest generation in our workforce, Gen Z (those under 25) are also good with tablets but prefer remote access via a smartphone.  I hope this helps!

    Leighanna,

I highly recommend finding a solution that is optimized for mobile phones. Here in CA, we find nearly 50% of applicants/new hires prefer to complete the electronic onboarding documents on their mobile devices, and that trend will only increase.

Thank you for the insight, Anthony! You are absolutely correct. We are finding that here in NC, too – Most millennials here don't even bother having a laptop or tablet. Luckily, we checked on that first with Akken and we were able to see their integration in action. Thanks again! Leighanna

    Leighanna,

Great question! We have gone to the point of just asking when we hire new talent. Tablet, Laptop Windows or Laptop Mac. Or in some cases both.
