Hi Mirian,
Kudos for this post! Most would not put themselves in the limelight to ask for this type of advice. As with any new vertical you wish to learn or become a deeper subject matter expert in, my advice would be to TALK with the actual candidates. Start with no more than 2-3 niche positions (ideally that are in the same career path alignment for ease of understanding how the roles blend and build.) Alternatively, look at the candidates your firm has in their pipe and allow that to define your top 2-3 positions to tackle.
From there, carve out time to speak to 5 candidates per day. You'll get vmails, etc. but keep at it. Follow-up your vmails with email intros (keep it short and concise.) When you connect, be honest and share with them you are wanting to truly understand their craft. Some won't offer help. Others will "wow" you with the amount of time they will take to share their career story with you. I have found, like healthcare candidates, most IT candidates love to talk shop.
Blend this approach with the following:
- Subscribe to some IT related blogs
- Join a local IT network and actually work the net through conversations
- Tap into your LI network (assuming you have IT folks you are connected with) and ask a few to mentor you
- See if you can work remotely at an IT incubator in your area - LOTS of convo and brainstorming there.
Hope some of these suggestions help. Good luck and congrats again on taking the time to self-develop! You just beat 50% of your competition.

Good Day,
I hope maybe you can give me any suggestions to take a training on IT, I am in sales and would love to have knowledge on terminology so I can understand that part of recruiting and maybe sometimes recruit for IT when i feel more comfortable.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, thank you!
