Lindsay - Great question and probably one of the most important issues facing our industry and our clients. Finding and retaining talent for our staffing firms and our clients is the toughest I think it's ever been, and I've been in this industry for 35 years. We have to realize that success in this area is a combination of art and science. Yes, we can focus on the quantifiable aspects of sourcing, recruiting, placement, and retention, but data alone will not ensure the outcomes we seek. The "art" of staffing calls for intuition, observation, awareness, and experience. That cannot be discerned with metrics. It requires having an eye for trends and actions that have worked in the past.
When our "inventory" is people,
commodity is a word we can never use. Each person is unique and brings their own skills and talents to the role we ask them to play. So, use science to direct activity, but use art to assess outcomes. The real challenge is knowing when to rely on science and when to rely on art. There's truth to the saying that "good judgment comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment."

During the age of 'the Great Resignation,' how are you using data and metrics to both find the top talent who are transitioning their roles and to retain your own top talent as well?
