    Hello staffing friends,

I hope everyone is staying safe.

We have started to quote more and more LI clients who are recruiting and staffing sanitizing and cleaning companies. Some of their clients are franchisees and some indies cos.

Are other staffing companies seeing an uptick in this LI niche?

    Thank you for your thoughts.

Hi David, we have seen this as well. Even more so, our current clients and other companies have requested temporary staff to perform sanitation and health checks. For example, they would conduct COVID questionnaires and temperature checks when the shifts start, and between shifts sanitize high flow areas and work spaces of employees that are sent home due to symptoms. I am concerned because the requesting companies essentially want temporary employees to manage an infectious disease situation for them without providing training and supervision because they themselves are not trained in the field. Additionally, work-related COVID-19 is a recordable illness with OSHA. We are doing everything we can to protect our workers and don't have the expertise and experience to join the 'front-line'. I'm curious to know if others are taking this on and how they are managing it.

    Best,
    Jamie

Thank you Jamie for your feedback.

We are finding many carriers are not supporting writing comp when the facility is likely to have Covid exposure.
As a result some of our clients are securing State Fund policies through our Leaststaff Work Comp Agent Network.  We do have some EORs/PEO's that are still writing limited Covid exposure, but using SUNZ as a EOR/PEO carrier for example, they are carefully checking the actual facility with their OSHA reports ect.  More specifically, we have found that carriers will absolutely not write nursing homes, but will write hospitals and hotels/ food service where sanitizing operations are on going.

We are also finding that our clients need to have a review of their G/L policies to make sure they are covered-- which our Licensed Agent Network do  for clients.

Having said all this, there does seem to be a growing demand for staffing with these cleaning/ sanitizing businesses.

Finally, as an aside, I recently Googled "cleaning businesses in the US." and I found that there are 900K cleaning  businesses! So I see this as a growing staffing niche.

Thank you again for your feedback.

    Hi Jamie & David –

We are filling aprox 2 dozen of these type of positions at one specific manufacturer in our county.  They are following all suggested safety protocol.  We have had absolutely no problems at all to this point (knock on wood).  Was very well planned out ahead of time.  We were already insuring this client thru our state fund (PA) due their industry (battery mfg).

Feel free to reach out as needed – Have a good one!

    Hi Carl,

Thank you for your informed response.  It sounds like you are using the State Fund which makes sense.  Because your experience in this area may become a real asset to you, you wish to try to leverage it to more clients either in PA or to your PA clients that have offices/facilities in other states-- using a variety of work comp solutions.
