Hi ASA Community, 

I'm entertaining the idea of developing a referral program for clients who refer other clients.  We have a referral program in place where employees, and former employees, receive a bonus or gift card after the employee they refer to us works certain amount of hours.  We're wondering if we could launch a similar program for clients referring new clients to us.

My company doesn't have a client referral program in place for current clients, but our candidate referral program allows for contractors/former contractors to receive a financial reward for every candidate we place at a client they refer to us. So far we haven't actually had anyone do this, but that's one way to incentivize people to bring in new clients. This could be helpful at larger clients where you may only be working with one division--you could have a contractor convert to perm then move to another division you aren't working with, then bring that division to you as a client. This approach may also be more successful than rewarding clients for referring other clients, since other than vendors, the other businesses your clients may know the most about are likely to be their competitors.
