Leading our team through COVID-19 has been an interesting transition.  During this period of change, I feel that we have made some permanent alterations, and how we do business will never be the same.  

I just wanted to share an interview that I conducted of retired Navy Commander Intelligence and Logistics Officer and CEO of Productive Leaders, Dr. Mary Kelly, PHD, CSP, Commander, USN (ret) . During this interview Dr. Kelly says something very interesting. She shares that as a Navy Commander you are not afforded the luxury of selecting your team, however, as a Commander you are responsible for completing the mission. This mission is completed by identifying individual team members' gifts and talents; then assigning the individual to a position where only he/ she can excel.

I feel that I gained so many pearls of wisdom from this interview with Dr. Kelly .

I wanted to share the insights that I gained so that you may transition your teams thru this time, as well as, your clients.

Thanks for posting, Susanne. I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Kelly for a leadership event my organization hosted a couple of years ago. Her views and methods around change can definitely benefit those who are seeking to navigate the turbulent environment we are now facing. I liked her quote on how being a successful entrepreneur means, "serving other people in a way that works for them." That means in the current climate of social unrest and COVID-19 your clients needs have shifted. If you are trying to create value based on what they needed in 2019, you aren't going to find a lot of people willing to bite. Thanks again for sharing.
