    What marketing methods have you found to be most effective to engage with existing customers and to open doors with new ones?
    Do you do email marketing campaigns? If so, do you use an outside service to manage your lists, develop content and deliver direct mail and/or email messages? Or do you do the work in house?

    I'm very interested to see the responses here, Cathy. My experience as a marketer to the staffing industry is that you will find that there are a wide range of things being done by staffing firms to identify and attract prospective clients and candidates. My advice is:

    • Keep it simple. Don't try to do too much.
    • Be clear on the strategy before engaging in the tactics.
    • Determine clear and reasonable expectations for outcomes.
    • Track and measure the activity and the results.
    • Be prepared to make course corrections along the way.
    • Don't be short-sighted. Be prepared to play the long game.

    Hi Cathy

    We have had good success with Newsletter Station service.  Our "Open rate" is about 9% and "CTR" is btwn 3-6%. We send them out 3-4 times a month  They charge about $50/mth. 

    Then we use Constant Contact to store our lists and send out the Newletters.

    My focus over the past few years has been SEO (Search Engine Optimization), content marketing, and social media. We service the entire country and provide travel/crisis staffing services, so it's important that when people are searching online for staffing solutions when traditional staffing services aren't working, they need to be able to find our website. Ensuring we show up on page one of Google results for certain keywords has been my focus. With that working very well, I'm now focused on improving our email marketing which is has been non-existent for a while now. I'm actually focusing our email marketing on clients as well as applicants/employees. Recruitment marketing has also been a big push for us, and for that, I've created my own Facebook group connecting job seekers with recruiters in the travel staffing industry. I'm now over 5,000 members and it's been very helpful for a variety of reasons. We manage our lists/email marketing mostly inhouse, but I do outsource a bit of marketing when we need it. Right now -- I've outsourced a bit of technical and off-page SEO help because my SEO expertise is limited to on-page SEO.

    We do email campaigns and we mail postcards on a regular basis.  We use Postcard Mania for our postcards.  It seems to work nicely since folks like to receive snail mail.
