Do you have KPIs in place to determine productivity in the process, and most importantly how is the profitability of these employees. If recruiting or account management it should be easy to track financial results of each individual. Supplemental staff is a little more difficult, but at the end of the day you should be able to tell how much each has produced that day. To me, that is how you ensure that you are getting what you pay for. If you feel the need to monitor every moment of what your staff does, it might be time to reconsider whether they should be on staff.
