Hi Nichole and Natalie,
Thanks for your questions. Neither Illinois nor Connecticut (nor any other state as of the time of this posting) carve out temporary workers from their harassment training laws. The Illinois training requirement goes into effect Jan. 1, 2020 and each employee must be trained once every year – so the deadline is Dec. 31, 2020. Connecticut recently extended the state's deadline for anti-harassment training to January 1, 2021. In Connecticut, new employees must be trained within six months of hire so an employee that works one day, and does not take another assignment, likely won't get trained. In talking with other members, I'm hearing many intend to hold regular bi-annual, or quarterly, trainings to ensure any new hires don't fall between the cracks and in an effort to avoid ad hoc training.

Subject: IL Sexual Harassment Training Requirements
Hello All,
We are in the same boat here in CT with regard to the need to provide Sexual Harassment training. It appears as though the CHRO is not making any differentiation between internal and external staff. Clearly this is not a concern if a temp is on a long term assignment but someone who will be working for 1 day makes little sense and frankly may prove to be impossible. The training provided by CHRO in CT is 2 hours long. What is everyone else finding in their states? Do we have any updates/guidance from our ASA counsel? Has anyone found an outside vendor who can simplify this process? I can highly recommend Insight Worldwide as they have the training available for many states (not CT however). David Fineran is my rep for integrity testing. He can be reached at (Office) 1-888-314-8908 or *NEW Direct Line: 970-443-7222.
Thank you for any thoughts on this mandate that you can share...
Best Regards,

Subject: IL Sexual Harassment Training Requirements
Good Morning!
We are working on the December 31, 2020, deadline here in IL to provide sexual harassment training to all of our employees. I have searched through the IDHR website to see if there are any exceptions showing, to no avail. My major question is if anyone here in IL has found an exception to having to provide this training to external staffing employees. I do see that we are required to provide this to all FT/PT/Temp employees, but I am hoping I am missing something that might relate to our external staffing employees as it is going to be hard to get this training out to and receive back confirmations from this group of employees.
Any direction/help/suggestions in this regard would be greatly appreciated!
Kind Regards,
