    Hi ASA network!
I'm not sure how many of you experienced the Avionte Classic technical difficulties a few weeks back (where we couldn't access it, and the ability to process payroll was on the line), but it has me thinking about my "back up plan" in case something like this should ever happen again.  Does anyone have a procedure already in place by which they keep a back up copy of all things that go into payroll (W2 info, tax deductions, etc) separate from their payroll system, in case the payroll software is not accessible?  (Note: I'm not looking to switch platforms, just looking for a redundancy procedure for future interruptions).

    Thanks!
    Monica

Hi Monica. The 64 million question here is whether you are hosting the software or they are. If you are hosting, you have some options. Offsite backup services (like Amazon Web Services or AWS) is a solution. So is Barracuda backups. If you are using Avionte as a SaaS, I don't think you have a lot of options regarding your data. In that case, you're talking about having a complete payroll backup system? I think that would be cost-prohibitive and simply an unreachable goal. And, even if you are still hosting it, that option is being eliminated.

Thanks Jay.  We just moved from self-hosted to the cloud based version.  I had very similar thoughts to yours, but wanted to put it out there in case I was missing something.  I don't want a whole new payroll system.  It was rough not being able to access the info to run payroll for 4 days, that's for sure! Just trying to find ways to mitigate the issue in the future, should it ever happen again (and if prepared, it won't, right, because that's they way things go?)

    Best,
    Monica
