Here’s a reminder that EEO- VEVRAA changes will go into effect one week from today.

VEVRAA (the Vietnam Era Veterans’ Readjustment Assistance Act) was established in 1974 to protect returning Vietnam veterans from employment discrimination. Last year, the OFCCP (Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs) issued new regulations to update and expand VEVRAA.

The final rules will go into effect on March 24, 2014.

According to the United States Department of Labor, federal contractors and subcontractors will be required to comply with most of the requirements of the new rules by this date. However, contractors with affirmative action programs (AAP) in place on March 24, 2014 will be able to maintain them until the end of their current AAP year and can delay compliance until the start of their next AAP year.

We’ve released a patch in versions 13.1 and 13.2 of Avionte Staffing Software to accommodate the new categories and rules. The patch includes an update to the EEO window drop downs for race and veteran status in the core application, an update to the EEO window in the portal to accommodate the race and veteran status changes, and an updated EEO report to accommodate the new categories. Employees will also now be able to enter their disability status within our applicant portal.

Go to our help site with the links below for details of the changes made to 13.1, 13.2 and the applicant portal:

- EEO changes in 13.1.12

- EEO changes in 13.2.1

- EEO page of the Applicant Portal

You can read about all of the changes by accessing the Final Rule here.

As always, don’t hesitate to contact your Account Manager with any questions.
